Assembly, Z axis Slide

Assembled Z axis slide for a CNC router. 4 inch travel. Anodized aluminum construction with Thompson shafting and linear ball bearings.

Slide has 10 pitch acme screw. The acetal antibacklash nut and dual thrust bearings minimize leadscrew end-play and backlash. Assembly includes NEMA 23 motor mount and 1/4 dia shaft, flex coupling. Slide has 16, 8-32 tapped mounting holes. The frame is pre-drilled and tapped for use with V-wheel, Y axis installations. 4 mounting holes are tapped, and  3 are counter bored for 1/4-20 cap screws.  Assembly weighs 4.5 lbs. This Axis will cut up to 75 inches per minute, dry.  With light lubrication, it can be used at speeds up to 150 inches per minute.

With a Globe servo motor and 4 V-wheels, the total axis weighs 8.0 lbs. Note knurled hand wheel is included with servo motor assembly, the red hand wheel shown is a Sherline handwheel and is not included.

Overall thickness of axis, across slide is 1 7/8.  Backplate is 3.5 x 9 inch.  Over all length is 11 inches, excluding motor.

Z-axis (above) shown mounted to a Y-axis constructed of #2 wheels and rails.

Recommended for use with Porter Cable, DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Trend and similar trim routers.

Note: This assembly does not include optional servo or stepper motor, machine handle, router mounting bracket or V-wheels for Y axis.
